The Healthiest Foods List

Time Magazine recently put their ‘Healthiest Foods’ list online. Their website moves like molasses, (which, by the way, is not on the list), so I’ll post the foods here for you. No big surprises. For each food they have a recipe, too, but I didn’t look at any of them because their tortoise speed seriously annoyed my internal hare.

Black beans

Kale

Salmon

Walnuts

Pumpkin

Apples

Blueberries

Bananas

Broccoli

Spinach

Sweet potatoes

Kidney beans

Lentils

Red beets

Eggplant

Brussels sprouts

Tomatoes

Whole wheat bread

Quinoa

Steel-cut oatmeal

Bulgur

Lean meat

Flaxseeds

Chia seeds

Almonds

Tuna

Fat-free milk

Fat-free Greek yogurt

Dark chocolate

Red wine

Extra-virgin olive oil

At this very moment, I have all the healthy foods except kale, walnuts, kidney beans, eggplant, and bulgur. But I also have mini marshmallows, bacon, smoked gouda, chocolate Malt-O-Meal, and enough peanut butter to keep a dog licking his nose into the next millennium. And don’t get me started about what’s in the liquor cabinet!

How many of the healthiest foods do you have right now? What’s the least healthy food in your house?
